North and Central America

The world’s biggest toy market

With an area of almost 25 million square kilometres, North America is earth’s third largest continent. This includes the land bridge known as Central America which connects the north to the south.

Around 454 million people populate the 23 countries within this region. The economic situation between the individual countries could not be any more different. Whereas Canada and USA are amongst the most affluent nations in the world, emerging markets dominate the south. Inter-trading plays a crucial role.

Significant toy markets in North America

North America is globally the largest region for toy sales. These statistics are led by USA and Canada. Sales of toys and games total US$ 32,822 million in North America. The North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, promotes the exchange of merchandise between its three member countries USA, Canada and Mexico, thus also increasing the market volume for toys.
